My Library

Had a birthday and what did I ask for? Had an anniversary and for fun we went to Barnes and Noble. And in general the new year of sequels to last years books began. Here is what has been added to my shelf:

"Blood and Chocolate" by Annette Curtis Klause
Did you ever see this movie? I did and was totally intrigued by it! It's about a girl who belongs to a pack of werewolves and she falls in love with a very non werewolf. Wrong move cuz she was next in line to be mated to the pack leader or something like that. (Give me a break-I only saw it once about 5-7 years ago!)I knew it was based on a book and always thought I might pick it up. Well, Cassandra Clare, author of City of Bones, picked it as her first recommendation for the book club on the Mundie Moms site. Done Deal! I'm pretty excited for it.
"Peeps" by Scott Westerfeld
Yikes! Scary picture! My book doesn't have this picture on the cover! Glad about that! Anyway- I was asking one of my YW (I do this quite frequently) what they are reading and this was the answer that Nicole Garrison gave to me awhile back. Yes Scott Westerfeld wrote the "Uglies" and "Pretties" series- still haven't read those, but Nicole has and she said this one she liked even better. It is about vampires that were created because of a parasite and the main character is a carrier of the parasite but not affected by the vampirism. Don't know much more than that but it sounds pretty interesting huh? I have read the Midnighter Series by Scott Westerfeld and found it extremely different from anything else I had ever read before, VERY smart and on the edge of your seat captivating. (Recommend those!) AND-and this is a big AND- this is a stand alone book- no sequel coming out! (As far as I know.)
"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah you know all about this one. Got it for book club. Still have a hard time with the cover although found the story to be extremely clever. Still don't know if I can hack it with the pictures though.
"The Demon's Lexicon" by Sarah Rees Brennan Ok now this is a cover I can live with! Any book that has a Tom Welling (Clark Kent from Smallville)look alike on it I will pick up purely to picture him as the main character. Easy on the eyes that one. All Superman covers aside, this book has been out for a year and Mundie Moms die for this book. I knew the sequel was coming out so I thought I would be safe to finally read it. I'll let you know if the characters are Tom Welling worthy! :)
"Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side" by Beth Fantaskey First of all I don't know if that is the author's real last name but if it is that is really cool! This has been out for a long time but I never had that much interest because it was yet again another high school vampire book but I was pretty intrigued when at the turn of the year and all of my book sites were putting up their top 5 or 10 favorite books of 2009 this was at the top of one of my very top sites. "Why?" I wondered? "#1. Really?" This person has read probably a gazillion books this year and this was her #1? It must have something seriously cool in it to warrant that. So now I am really excited to read this.
" Wicked Lovely" by Melissa Mars
Already had this book in paperback but this series has turned out to be one of my favorites and I had the last two in hardback cuz I got them as they came out but the first two were in paperback. So when I was at Hastings and saw this as one of their used books for $3 it was mine. Now I just have to find "Ink Exchange" in hardback and I will have a matching set! Highly recommend this series. Well written with wicked plot lines and love stories plus each takes place in the same world but telling a different characters love story while furthering the plot. Never read anything like that and I love it!
"The Dead Tossed Waves" by Carrie Ryan
Got this one the second it came out. This is the sequel to "The Forest of Hands and Teeth" that came out last March. I picked that one up because I was on a website that said it was a must read for those who were missing the Twilight series. I ran out and read the first chapter and saw the book trailer and was hooked. When I read the first one though it was different than anything I had ever read. It was a book with zombies in it and truthfully so frightening that I stayed up all night to finish it cuz I just couldn't leave those poor people in those predicaments till morning. I thought by the end that there was no way I could read a second one but the book stuck with me. I thought about it for weeks and weeks and realized how unbelievably it had been written. Needless to say all I remember was the good stuff and knew I had to read the second one. Just a little afraid to go back after seeing the trailer for this one but I gotta do it. Sounds like it will be worth it...here's hoping.
"City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare Wait, Britani don't you have this book already? Yes but it was another that was in paperback and the last two were in hardback. Gotta have the matching set!
And if you haven't read this yet, Run, don't walk, to my house and get it. You won't be disappointed!

There they all are. The spoils of my birthday etc. now on my shelf for your borrowing pleasure! Excuse me now...I have some reading to do.
